Magic or Technology?

When the late great wizard Arthur C. Clarke wrote “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” I wonder if he foresaw the first few months of 2016, because to anyone who’s not aware of how far things have advanced, lately it feels like some technology has crossed over into the category of magic.

Elon Musk and the SpaceX team power landing 50 meter tall rockets on (comparatively) tiny barges in the middle of the ocean is positively awe inspiring to anyone like me who launched toy rockets as a kid (and lost many due to wind).

Check out this awesome interactive 360º (be sure to scroll up as you begin to hear the barge vibrating under the rocket’s thrust as it comes closer to touching down):

What’s even more crazy, is that they just landed a second time… AT NIGHT… during a MUCH more difficult re-entry.

If that doesn’t impress you, how about Franky Zapata and his jet powered Flyboard:

The future is officially here and I think we can all agree that it’s even more magical than expected.
